Founders - Roy Raymond
Shopping for intimate garments can be a little embarrassing. In 1977, Roy Raymond, an alumnus of Tufts University and Stanford Graduate School of Business, experienced it all first hand. He went lingerie shopping for his wife and was quite intimidated by the department store kind of environment. He could gauge the need gap, and the very seeds of a new business ideas were sown in his sharp mind. What followed next was a successful launch of innerwear line, exclusively for women. The store environment offered the much needed privacy, as the merchandise were displayed to make lingerie shopping a lot more convenient. Today, Victoria’s Secret is a well known American retailer of women’s wear, lingerie and beauty products along with exotic fragrances.
